This feature can be accessed from the "Format" menu, and allows you to make changes that affect your whole Project. The first step is to choose which task you want to perform. Each task is detailed below:
Convert the whole Project to Unicode
This will go through every topic and popup in your Project and convert it to unicode.
Convert the current Translation to Unicode
If you have the International version of Fast-Help, then all topics and popups in the current language will be converted to Unicode.
Change all Fonts to...
Click the [Next] button to choose the font, then click the [Finish] button and every font in your Project will be changed to match the font you chose. This feature could be useful in the case where you have imported a file and all the fonts appear. If you are on the "Translations" tab when this option is chosen, then the changes will affect that Translation language, otherwise the changes will affect only your Project.
Find a specific text format and replace with...
This option allows you to search your Project for text that has specific settings. For example, if you wanted to replace all text that had a font of Arial and a size of 12, with Verdana and size 10, you would check the option "Look for this Font Name" and select "Arial", then check the option "Look for this Font Size" and choose 12. Then, on the right of the screen you would check the "Replace with this Font" and choose "Verdana" and then check the "Replace with this Font Size" and choose 10.
You can also choose to search by color and bold, italic and underline. This can be really useful in cases where you have imported a Project and you want to set the formatting so that it is consistent. You can optionally choose to search in the Header section or the main Help Text area, or both.
When choosing the replacement formatting, you can quickly select an existing Style, using the combo box on the bottom right. This will set the current replacement settings to match that Style.
Find a specific paragraph format and replace with...
In the same way as the previous task finds and replaces text formatting, this feature does the same for paragraph formatting. For example, if you wanted to search for all paragraphs that had a Line spacing of 200% and replace them with a Line spacing of 100%, you would check the option "Look for Line Spacing" and choose 200, then check the option "Replace with this Line Spacing" and choose 100. You can use any combination of the paragraph settings to search and replace. You can optionally choose to search in the Header section or the main Help Text area, or both. You can also choose an existing Paragraph Style from the combo box on the bottom right.
Add formatted text to...
Let's say you wanted to add a copyright notice to the bottom of every page. Type in your text and format it as you wish, then click [Next] and check the option "Add to the main Help Text" and un-check the option "Add to the Header section". Then check the option "Add as a New paragraph at the Bottom".
Another possible use of this feature is to add a logo image to the top left of the Header section of every page. To do that, first add your image, and perhaps a space after it, so that it does not go right against any existing text in the Header section. Then click [Next] and in the "Where do you want the add the formatted text?" section, check only the "Add to the Header section" option and in the "How should it be added" section, check the option "Append to the Beginning of the First paragraph".
I hope you can see how powerful this feature can be. You can choose between added text to the Header section and the Help text area or both. And you can choose from up to 4 difference ways of adding the text.
Delete all text from...
This option will delete all text from either the Header section or the Help Text area, or both, as you choose.
