This option is available from the "Insert | HtmlHelp Control" menu and is a HtmlHelp specific option. A lot of people still use WinHelp files and you may wish to link to old HLP files.


Linking to a WinHelp Topic Tutorial

  1. Select "Insert | HtmlHelp Control | WinHelp Topic" and set the "Display Options" to "As a Button".
  2. Set the "Button Options" to "Caption" and type in something like, "See Old Help File"
  3. In the "WinHelp Display Options" select a Topic or a Popup
  4. In the "WinHelp File" box, use the ellipsis to select a .HLP file. This HtmlHelp control has problems with spaces in the path or file names, so you may want to move this .HLP file to a folder where this won't be an issue.
  5. Type in the HelpID for the Topic/Popup and click [Test] to test if it works.
  6. Click [OK] to compile and give it a real test. Each of the other options is explained in detail below.


Display Options

Hidden

Hides this option. Useful if you are referring to this control from code

As a Button

Creates a clickable button with caption


Button Options

Caption

If you chose a display option of a Button then the caption you type below will appear on your button

Bitmap

Use the ellipsis button below to choose a bitmap to represent this control. The bitmap must be in your HtmlHelp folder, not your images folder, and must be shipped along with your CHM file

Icon

As with the Image option, you can use the ellipsis button below to choose a icon to represent this control. The icon must be in your HtmlHelp folder, not your images folder, and must be shipped along with your CHM file


WinHelp Display Options

Topic

Check this option if the page you are linking to is a Topic

Popup

Check this option if the page you are linking to is a Popup

Window

Leave blank or select a Window name from the Drop-down arrow.


WinHelp File

.HLP File Name

Use the ellipsis to pick a file name. Please ensure there are no spaces in the file name or path.

HelpID

The number that uniquely identifies this page

[Test]

The Test button allows you to do a live test of the values you have entered so far.
